Johanna Björklund is senior lecturer at the Department of Computing Science at Umeå University, and founder and COO of CodeMill, an IT-consultancy company specialising in media asset management (MAM). Johanna received her MSc and PhD in Computer Science at Umeå University. The topic of her PhD thesis was the theory and application of tree languages. After her PhD she worked for a short time at Dresden University as a research assistant at the chair of Prof. Vogler, before returning to Umeå and a position as first a junior and later a senior lecturer. Her work is financed by the Swedish Research Council and the Swedish Defence Research Institute, and focuses on structured methods for text classification. Parallel to her research work, she manages the IT company CodeMill AB together with Rickard Lönneborg. The company has expertise in digital video, supporting customers in Europe and the US with MAM solutions and general software development.
